About the Studio

A little about me...

Sea Legs Art is a private studio, dedicated to both tattoo and fine art. While I do have flash art and an extensive reference library available for those needing inspiration, Sea Legs is primarily a custom studio. However, you may provide your own art or ideas and I am happy to collaborate and work with you to create your artwork. I am skilled in many styles, from tribal to portraits, black and gray to full color.

Sterilization is a priority and just like in any reputable studio, my equipment is single-use and autoclave sterilized.

Rates are $100/hour. I do accept credit cards via PayPal, but a discount will be applied for payment in cash. Minimum price is $50.

Work is strictly by appointment only. An initial consultation to review your ideas may be required. Failure to show for an appointment without prior notification will result in a deposit being required before any future appointments will be scheduled.

Appointments are currently available select evenings and weekends. Availability is subject to change.

To schedule an appointment, please send an email with your contact information and any ideas you have regarding your artwork. I will get back to you as promptly as possible (usually the same day, but generally no more than a couple days) with any questions, availability/turnaround time, and, if possible, a price quote.

History

Prior to tattooing, I earned a B.A. in Fine Art from Goucher College. I began tattooing in early 1998, after completing an apprenticeship. I worked for Body FX in Elkridge for over 10 years, leaving in Sept. 2008. I left there to be able to offer more personalized service and spend more time with my growing family. The name “Sea Legs” was inspired by both the maritime history surrounding tattooing and more importantly, watching my son go from being a little drunken sailor learning to walk to a full-on captain, running around. Didn’t take him long to get his “sea legs.” Melissa
